Preparing Damage After the Retrograde #magickuptv
The retrograde is almost out of here and if it was anything for you like most have experienced, you have been left with a trail of mess and a ton of apologies to be had.
What is a Retrograde?
The term retrograde comes from the Latin word retrogradus, which literally means “backward step.” As the name suggests, retrograde is when a planet appears to go backward in its orbit, as viewed from Earth. Astronomers refer to this as “apparent retrograde motion,” because it is an optical illusion.
Mercury is known as the planet that rules all communication, B.C.-based astrologist Georgia Nicols explains. This means that when Mercury appears retrograde, people may experience communication issues, problems with technology, or even things like lost mail.
When Mercury is in Retrograde
Expect to have more or less energy than you're used to, particularly of the anxiety variety. October 2020's Mercury retrograde either sapped you of your usual zest and left you feeling lethargic, or filled you with chaotic, scattered energy that may have had you feeling restless, unfocused and anxious.
When Mercury goes retrograde, challenges with thinking and communicating in a linear or direct way and delays with traveling and commuting can come up. This can cause frustration, stress and impatience within us.
October 13 to November 3: The pre-retrograde shadow begins September 23, post-retrograde shadow ends November 19.
When Mercury spun backward in Scorpio Tuesday, October 13, we may have become increasingly nostalgic and sentimental. Especially during the last week of Mercury retrograde, allow yourself to revisit old journals, yearbooks, and photo albums. How has your life changed over the years? Are you happy with your current direction, or do you need to switch gears? Find inspiration from past lessons and experiences and use this time to strategize about how to best achieve your goals moving forward. Scorpio can be obsessive, so be careful of getting caught in unhealthy thought patterns. Self-awareness will help you turn this period into a fruitful moment of reflection that precedes renewal.
The retrograde entered Libra, the sign of relationships, Tuesday, October 27. Beware of old flames hitting you up during Mercury retrograde in Libra, and watch out for becoming the ex who texts in the middle of the night yourself. Yes, Libra craves romantic attention and loves to flirt, but don't let the retrograde trick you into old unhealthy territory. Mercury went direct Tuesday, November 3, which happened to be Election Day. Yes, that sounds awful, but at least it's not smack dab in the middle of the retrograde.
Communication is a huge part of our daily lives, so when the messenger planet goes reverse, major issues are to be expected. But it's important to remember that while retrogrades are extremely annoying, they're not the end of the world. Swift-moving Mercury goes retrograde three or four times per year: You've been through it before, and you can get through this retrograde, too. Relax, take deep breaths, and remember that if shit does hit the fan over the next few weeks, you can always blame Mercury.
How to repair the damage.
First, take some time to really digest what has been taking place and what role you played in it.
Write down ways you feel it could have gone better
Do shadow work on the role you played in it by accepting and forgiving yourself
If there is someone who is owed an apology, do so and ask for forgiveness
If true separation has taken place then give thanks and keep moving
If distance has been created, continue to do self work on you. If it is meant to be or to turn around, the exit of the retrograde will create the ability for resolve and re-connection
This is a great time to re-cleanse your stones and crystals. Sage and pray
Do visualization exercises and see the things you desire
Give thanks for surviving it with freedom and free will still in your possession as some really allow themselves to lose control and act out in violence. Thus losing their freedom.
Mercury Retrograde is not evil. We should allow it to teach us and reach places within our spirit we didn’t know was still there. Those places are either for our protection or lesson. Learn and grow. Fly!
